Hickory, Dickory, Dock

Where's the clock gone, they keep asking me?  Well, I just want to make it clear that just because we have a church on the doorstep, doesn't mean to say that I can explain all of the goings on there.  However, I do happen to know about the clock because we happened to be on leave when they took it down.  Well, I say 'it' but I guess I mean 'them' because there are normally four clock faces on each side of the Church tower.  We can see two of them from our house and garden and it's surprising how often we refer to them during the course of the day.  Luckily, the bell remains intact, ringing out the quarter past, half past, quarter to and the hour so we are not entirely timeless.

Some men arrived and abseiled down the tower to detach each clock face and then lower it down.  It's now gone off for repair, leaving the rooks' nests exposed and, no doubt, to be cleared before the clocks are replaced.  No idea of the timescales for this - no pun intended - but hoping that we will be here when the abseilers return as it is not something that you see everyday.
